Ahmedabad Rockets v Mumbai Champs
AR v MC, Match 9: Ahmedabad Rockets beat Mumbai Champs by 9 wickets
Oct 17, 2008
An unbeaten 92 by Ryan Campbell powered hosts Ahmedabad Rockets to a nine-wicket victory over Mumbai Champs in the Indian Cricket League Twenty20 Championship at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday night.
Chasing 130 in the ninth match of the tournament, Rockets got to the target in just 16.4 overs.
Man-of-the-match Campbell rocked the Champs, hitting four sixes and 12 fours in a brilliant 92 off 52 balls.
The Rockets got off to a blistery start, with openers Campbell and Parvez Aziz scoring 50 runs in just 4.5 overs. Aziz was bowled by
Champs' skipper Nathan Astel in the sixth over after he scored 13, inclusive of two fours.
Skipper Damien Martyn joined Campbell, who continued the onslaught and steered the Rockets to victory with 3.2 overs to spare.
Earlier, Champs won the toss and elected to bat, but lost early wickets, with Jason Gillespie scalping Robin Morris cheaply for one in the third over.
The highlight of the Champs' innings was the brilliant knock of unbeaten 41 off 15 balls by all-rounder Johan van der Wath, which helped his team put up a respectable total of 130 for 6 in 20 overs.
