Lahore Badshahs won their match against Chennai Superstars by 13 runs, during their Indian Cricket League (ICL) 20-20 championship at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel stadium on Sunday.
With this win Superstars and Badshahs entered the semi-finals and will be battling again for place in the finals on Monday. The other semi-final will be played between Hyderabad Heroes and Bengal on November 11. Chasing a mammoth total of 211, set by the Badshahs, the Superstars were restricted to 198 for nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Despite a fantastic unbeaten innings, 76 of 38 balls (4x4, 6x6) by Rajagopal Sathish, Superstars fell short of their target. Superstars got off to a steady start with the openers putting up partnership of 34 runs for the first wicket, before Ganapathi Vignesh got out in the 4th over. Opener Ian Harvey made a useful 54 in 29 balls comprising off five fours and four sixes, before he got out in the 7th over with Superstars down 84/2. Rajgopalan Satish anchored the innings for Superstars, as wickets tumbled at the other end. Satish showed some fireworks hitting six sixes and four fours, forcing the Badshahs to rethink their strategy. But fantastic bowling by Naved-ul-Hassan, who bagged 4 for 26 runs and Shahid Nazid claiming 3 after conceding 43 runs, restricted the Superstars to 198 for 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
