A strokeful innings of 88 by opener Ganapathi Vignesh paved the way for Chennai Superstars' 75 runs victory over Mumbai Champs in the 27th match of the ICL20s Indian Championship at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium.
Chasing a target of 206, Mumbai Champs could score only 130 for five in allotted 20 overs. Only Nathan Astle played a defiant knock of 68 which came in 61 deliveries. During his vigil at the wicket, Astle hit three boundaries and four sixes. Hasan Raja contributed 17 runs.
Shabbir Ahmed captured two wickets for 36 runs. R Jesuraj (1 for 12) and M Haward (1 for 19) were also very economical bowlers to restrict the Mumbai Champs total.
Earlier, batting first, Chennai Superstars piled up 205 for 7.
Ganapathi Vignesh, adjudged the Player of the Match, played the winning knock of 88 in just 53 deliveries.
Executing his strokes with confidence and power, Vignesh executed seven sweetly-time boundaries and hit five huge sixes. S G Law remained not out on 29.
