Deep Dasgupta and Rohan Gavaskar slammed whirlwind half-centuries to guide Royal Bengal Tigers to an eight-wicket victory over Dhaka Warriors in the ICL 20s Championship at the Tau Devi Lal stadium.
Setting a victory target of 173 by Dhaka Warriors, the Tigers were off to a flying start with openers Hamish Marshall (20) and Dasgupta hitting the rival bowlers to all corners of the ground. Earlier, Alok Kapali and Aftab Ahmed were the star performers for Dhaka Warriors. On a humid evening, the two Bangladeshis produced knocks that should merit accolades in any grade of cricket. Kapali cracked a 33-ball 65 and Ahmed crafted a 42-ball 61 to give Dhaka Warriors innings the momentum. Kapali, at 24, and Aftab Ahmed, 23, have served Bangladesh cricket with distinction, playing 17 and 14 Tests respectively and here they stood out for Dhaka Warriors with some quality batting.
