Riding on an elegant 57 off 40 balls by opener Shahriar Nafees, Dhaka Warriors went past Mumbai Champs' 151 with six wickets to spare in the Indian Cricket League (ICL) Twenty20 tournament at Tau Devi Lal Stadium on Monday night.
Opener Nafees, who paired up with Aftab Ahmed to produce a 54-run second-wicket partnership off 32 balls, wielded his willow out on the middle to sent the Mumbai Champs bowlers out of the ground at will. This win helps keep hopes of Dhaka team afloat as they have to win at least two of their remaining three matches to reach semi-final stage, while the Mumbai team is out of contention. Earlier, invited to bat first, Mumbai Champs faced some stiff challenges from Dhaka Warriors bowlers although a late blow from Ranjeet Khirid helped them to post a moderate 151 for 6 wickets. As the Mumbai team reached 100-run with four overs remaining, Khirid made an unbeaten 51 off just 25 balls with the help of four boundaries and same number of sixers to power his side cross the 150-run mark.
