A first-ball duck by Brian Lara left fans disappointed even as former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq led from the front to gain his side Hyderabad Heroes a 33-run victory over the Mumbai Champs in a league match in the Indian Cricket League (ICL) Twenty20 Indian Championship match.
Hyderabad Heroes captain Haq was declared man of the match for his unbeaten 42 runs from 28 balls (4 fours, 2 sixes) and for being instrumental in running out Mumbai Champs batsman RL. Khirid and for lapping up the catch of Nathan Astle. In a low-scoring match in front of a capacity weekend crowd at the Tau Devi Lal sports complex, the Hyderabad team scored 121 runs losing six wickets in their 20 overs. In reply, The Mumbai Champs were bundled out for just 88 runs in 18.5 overs. Lara, playing in the tournament for the first time, was declared leg before wicket on the very first ball he faced from Azhar Mahmood. Astle top scored for the Mumbai team with 31 runs.
